ABOUT NUTRITION CONSULTS
Booking a nutrition consult is where you can meet with me and receive personalised diet and lifestyle advice to help you feel your best. As a qualified nutritionist, I have a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing by exploring your nutrition, emotional state, biochemical functioning and lifestyle. I investigate health and wellbeing recognising the body as a whole system that is connected.
I am always interested in asking ‘why’ to help you understand the underlying drivers contributing to your health concerns. Once this is established I develop actionable and evidence-based dietary and lifestyle recommendations. My focus is on helping you achieve long-term health and wellbeing rather than just suppressing and managing symptoms. I understand the importance of personalised nutrition and will work with you to develop a treatment plan that suits your goals, lifestyle and budget.
I am fascinated by the relationship between our gut and brain and love sharing the profound results that simple diet and lifestyle changes can have on mood, attention and cognition. I have a special interest in supporting healthy mood, energy, mental health (depression, anxiety, impaired sleep, stress) and behaviour (autism and ADHD) through optimising gut health, nutrition and lifestyle practices; ultimately how you can feed your happiness.
You should leave every consultation with me having greater insight into your health concerns and practical recommendations to help you improve your health and wellbeing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Initial consultation – 60-90 minutes
The initial consultation is the longest appointment we undertake together as it allows us time to discuss your health concerns and get a comprehensive understanding of your goals, body system functioning, diet, lifestyle, emotional state and medical history. This will allow us to investigate the underlying causes of your health concern. I also use this time to understand your beliefs and attitudes so I can provide personalised diet and lifestyle recommendations and identify any potential barriers to change.
At the end of this consultation you should have an understanding of what could be contributing to your health concerns, as well as actionable diet and lifestyle recommendations to help you manage your health concerns. Sometimes nutritional supplementation may also be recommended and can be purchased from the clinic. In some cases referrals for further testing may be recommended and necessary before further treatment.
Follow-up consultation (long) – 45 minutes
The long follow-up consultation is a 45 minute review where we can evaluate and refine your goals and treatment. The additional consultation time allows for more comprehensive discussion and recommendations. The long follow-up consultation is ideal if you are returning for your second appointment, have test results to discuss, have an additional health concern you would like to discuss, haven’t visited the clinic for over six months or have a number of questions you would like answered.
Follow-up consultation (short) – 30 minutes
The short follow-up consultation is a 30 minute review where we can evaluate and refine your goals and treatment. The follow up consultation is an important part of creating lasting change as it encourages accountability and allows for modifications that support your changing health goals. It is also an opportunity to reflect on your progress and celebrate your lasting changes.
